The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit 6 raided an illegal gutkha godown in Baiganwadi area of Govandi in Mumbai and seized banned tobacco products worth over Rs 20 lakh, police officials said on Saturday.

Two suspects were arrested during the operation which was conducted on Friday, an official said.

According to police officials, the raid took place around 4 pm at a premises near Kadaria Qalandaria Masjid in Baiganwadi.

Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch team seized 184 bags of gutkha valued at Rs 17.74 lakh, three mobile phones worth Rs 15,000, and two scooters -- a Suzuki Access and a TVS Ntorq, each valued at Rs 1 lakh -- bringing the total seizure to Rs 20.29 lakh.
